Peach Season
Oil on Canvas

Planting peaches in Maine entails optimism, planning a year ahead, owning a sunny South facing hillside (or lacking that, a spot sheltered from the North and West), and picking the right hardy type; such as Reliance.
Then, one must hope for no late frosts. Remembering to pick off many of the tiny peaches when they first form, to let the others grow into bigger fruit.
Protection from Raccoon families who enjoy a peach midnight picnic as much as anyone.
It's worth it.
And, peaches are also great fun to paint!
