Three Geese on Pasture Pond

Painted from a recently discovered 35mm slide, taken around 1971. My parents moved to Hancock, Maine from New York City in the 1950s; my mother was a doctor and father an artist/art teacher. The local area needed both. It's a long winding story, but the short version is my father eventually had a farm pond dug in the pasture for the cows and geese.
This scene brought back into sharp memory the white geese against the dark water, the old fence to the North.
I think the geese must have existed purely for their beauty as models- we didn't eat them, and I don't recall any goose eggs.
